How to tack down the ends of a braid

Posted February 6th, 2017 in Technical Updates

Many processes require that the braid material is tacked down so that it does not shift during secondary processes. Our friends at Vention recommend using a short section of PET heat shrink tubing to secure the ends of braided sections of a reinforced catheter shaft. The tubing provides a smooth transition over sharp edges and prevents the braid from unraveling or poking through the thermoplastic layer, without adding significantly to the profile.

PET heat shrink can be found at Vention Medical’s Online Store which offers a full range of thin-wall heat shrink tubing products, in stock and ready to ship within 24 hours.
